Kirigami Arts partnered with Crossword Bookstores to bring origami into a space built around curiosity, learning and stories. Through recurring hands-on workshops, readers, families and art enthusiasts have discovered the joy of turning a simple sheet of paper into something of their own.
When Bookshelves Meet the Art of Folding
At Crossword Bookstores, a love for stories found a new form of expression through paper, as Kirigami Arts brought the art of origami to readers and families through hands-on workshops.
The collaboration brought origami out of the traditional craft setting and into a space already built around curiosity, learning and discovery. Through interactive workshops, participants were introduced to the fundamentals of paper folding while creating their own pieces, guided step by step by experienced artists from Kirigami Arts.
What made the association special was the setting. Surrounded by books, ideas and conversations, participants could discover another form of storytelling, one where a simple sheet of paper becomes a character, object or sculpture through a sequence of folds.
The workshops were designed to be accessible to different age groups and experience levels, making origami less about getting every fold perfect and more about enjoying the process of making something with your own hands.
The collaboration has also grown into a recurring engagement, creating an opportunity for Crossword’s community to regularly experience paper art and for Kirigami Arts to bring origami to audiences beyond the studio.
